Vase hollow form called Three Knots. Wood is American Chestnut or Chestnut Oak. Measures 7″ wide and 9″ tall.
It was turned to completion in one sitting so the foot is not perfectly round. The color was added while on lathe starting with Chestnut Stains Royal Blue. This was sanded back and yellow was added.
The finish is 5 coats lacquer and then Beall buff. The piece was formed from a crotch at the juncture of three branches, thus three knots. These knots shriveled with drying.
