Tell us about yourself:

I am 22 years old and I see woodturning as my hobby. I live with my boyfriend, two cats and a turtle on my family farm where we also have cattle. I am a nursing student and have worked as an animal caretaker at the animal hospital before. Art and animals are my biggest interest! Turning gives me a well needed break when I study!

What is your background and how/why did you get into woodturning?

I started turning when I went to an art school a year ago. Lucky for me, my dad is a carpenter and has a lathe that I can use. My grandfather was an art teacher for many years and he is a big inspiration as well. Turning is an addiction!

Favorite species of wood?

I do not have a favorite species of wood, the important thing is that it is beautiful!

How did you develop your woodturning career?

I am still learning so most of my pieces are far from perfect. I tend to fall in love with the ones that comes from a beautiful piece of wood. Spalting, grain colour etc.

What would you say to new woodturners?

It is an addiction, a beautiful one.
