This piece was created from a donated maple cookie, from a close friend.
It’s also a burl, that created to be more of an inspirational oblique piece for the owner to enjoy his own interpretation.
This was very hard and dense, so I started with a router attachment, I rigged to do most of the form. Including the curve carved out rays. The outer ring, was dimpled, with added black dye.
Gold leaf was added to soften the black. Flute where added the outside area. Finishing top coat of hand wiped poly.
This piece is about 27″ Again this is also mounted in such a fashion, as it can be rotated while hanging in place.
