This is a red oak bowl, 9.25″ x 5″. The wood came from a neighbor’s tree that fell in a storm and hit the house, collapsing the roof and making the house uninhabitable.
I thought this tragedy should have something positive come out of it, so I grabbed a piece of the tree when it was cut up.
Turned green, dried, and twice turned to finish.
The exterior is ebonized with iron acetate and grain is highlighted with liming wax.
The entire bowl is finished with friction polish and wax.
