A redwood burl, that measures about 30″. Turn on a Nichols lathe, weighted with about 300 lbs of sand. The piece started with handheld chisels, some hand-cut runes, later added gold leaf, with the patina process. Finished with hand wiped poly, for a subtle sheen.

I named it Spirit base and here is my interpretation of the piece Spirit Base, redwood burl sanctuary wall art, your mind, and soul likes, find peace and security every time.

Instructons for makng

A special place in your home where you and others can find peace love and balance, strength. Let us not forget protection.

A symbolic wall hanging to center your gifts and reinforce the creation of your most heartfelt desires and goals for life, spirit, and growth.

This is a representation in my work of a continuation of inner growth and peace, for those who might find the beauty in and around our daily lives.

The outer ring has symbols that represent Faith, Love, and Strength. Written with Celtic symbols (as I see them). The inner rings represent an open circle of life, the beginning, and the questionable end. Fond in the teaching of Zen. I added four rings, that represent a symbolic Hopi native American maize to enlightenment, a journey of one’s growth.

I hope you can see this connection I have made between the two different cultures and the similarities in our journeys. Once your spirit finds new ways to the center of the maze, to be given gifts, love, hope, inspiration, abundance, and joy.

For each journey through the maze a new gift is realized, one that is most needed at the time your soul most needs. I hope you find the strength I hope to convey in my creation.

May it always bring you peace, balance, prosperity, and joy.

The art piece is also designed in a way, that once it is hung on your wall, it can be rotated to create missed opportunities.
