I started woodturning about a year ago. And as I was collecting wood to turn I kept seeing this piece of wood that I could not split for firewood.

So, I tried to burn it on the outside fire pit but it kept rolling off.

One day I took a chainsaw and cut this beautiful oak, spalted burl, with burn marks on it.

It was like my 9th bowl attempt and turned out beautiful.

I used my 1/2” bowl gouge and was careful with the sanding because of its uneven edges.

I used shellac as a sealer and water base urethane to finish.

Glad it didn’t burn.
