I made this clock out of a piece of ash that I cut up and dried. I was going to use it for a platter but when it dried it had a large knot that split in the centre so was no good for a platter. I saw a design opportunity and having some clock inserts my mind was made up.

Woodturned ash clock with dye and carvings

The shape was turned and then decorated using jo sonjas iridescent paints. I then used a proxxon motorised carver with the ‘v’ cutter in it to remove parts of the decorated area. Several coats of lacquer were then applied and a hook fixed to the back for hanging on a wall.
